The Green House
HESM&A recently worked with WSB-TV and Brock Built to design an Earth friendly home. “The Green House” was built to Earth Craft standards and constructed of innovative Green building materials. The house was auctioned and proceeds benefitted Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Eco-Friendly Restrooms
HESM&A has brought water saving design to our
office space in Atlanta by replacing our traditional 1.0 gallon per
flush urinal with a low flow 0.125 gallon per flush urinal. We are also
utilizing motion sensors in our restrooms.
These two initiatives will save thousands
of gallons in water usage in the
Recyclable Paper
HESM&A in cooperation with Imaging Technologies is using recycled paper for all of our plotting. HESM&A plots on thousands of square feet of paper per month and this change will significantly modify the impact our plotting is having on the environment. HESM&A also recycles all paper waste at all three office locations.
Ecologically Friendly Water Bottles
In an effort to promote green awareness within our office and with clients, and to keep plastic water bottles out of our nation’s ever-filling landfills, HESM&A now uses reusable, recyclable, 100% BPA-free water bottles that are environmentally friendly.
Filtered Water System
To further reduce the use of plastic water bottles in our
USB Drives Reduce Paper Waste
HESM&A often sends brochures, presentations, and other documents traditionally printed on paper on customized USB drives to minimize our reliance on paper copies. They are reusable and a big timesaver too!
Fuel Efficient Vehicle Program
HESM&A is
committed to fostering sustainable practices in every aspect of our
engineering design and corporate operation. One such measure we have
implemented is a rebate program for the employee purchase of any new or
used fuel efficient vehicle.
Qualification
details:
• A combined fuel
efficiency rating better than 25 mpg as listed on
• Primary commute
transportation for full-time HESM&A employee.
Rebate details:
For every mile
per gallon of fuel efficiency over and above the benchmark standard a
one-time rebate of $100 is provided to an employee. Vehicles that
incorporate alternative technology such as electric hybrid, fuel cell
hybrid, or compressed natural gas plug-in hybrids receive an additional
$500 provided they meet the benchmark MPG rating.
